FAQs
What should I pack?
Daytime temperatures tend to be warm, so wearing comfortable clothing is advisable. However, during the evenings from May to September, it can become somewhat cooler. A light cover-up may come in handy, especially when stargazing from our rooftop or relaxing by the fire pit.
We have implemented measures to plant a variety of mosquito-repelling plants throughout the dive centre; however, we still recommend that you bring some mosquito repellent for added protection.
Our accommodation provides eco-friendly, shower amenities, but feel free to bring your own if you have specific preferences. Please ensure your sunscreen is reef-safe to help protect the beautiful reefs.
If you’re in the mood for adventure and wish to explore Alor’s waterfalls or take a stroll through the hills, we suggest packing comfortable shoes or sandals.
How do I get to Alor?
If you're coming from overseas, we suggest entering Indonesia through either Jakarta or Bali. From these locations, you can take a flight to Kupang. Following that, there’s one more flight to Alor Mali Airport.
Traveling via Bali: You will need to spend a night in Kupang; we can provide some hotel recommendations to make your stay comfortable.
Flying from Jakarta: You have the option to take an overnight flight to Kupang, allowing you to arrive just in time for the morning flight to Alor.
Please keep in mind that domestic flight schedules can frequently change with little notice. Therefore, we strongly advise allowing yourself plenty of travel days to accommodate any potential delays.
What is the water temperature?
The temperature usually fluctuates between 24-30º, but there can be thermoclines at the sites that drop to a chilly 16º. If you tend to feel cold, like many of our staff (ha!), we suggest bringing a 5mm wetsuit along with layers, such as a hood.
Are the currents strong?
The currents can vary greatly depending on the tide and lunar cycle; however, we always select dive sites with our customers' experience, comfort and safety in mind.
When is the best time to dive?
The season spans from mid-March to mid-December. During this period, rainfall is generally reduced. A diverse array of species can be observed throughout the season, with water visibility consistently remaining at a high level.
